The backbone of the Governor’s agenda, is to bring a new way of doing things in Mombasa through public participation. A government by the people and for the people. Prior to this, he was elected to serve as the Member of Parliament for Mvita Constituency where he represented the people of Mvita, legislated in their interests, defended Devolution and supported the full implementation of the Constitution. The pinnacle of his Parliamentary service was his election as the Chairman of the Public Investments Committee which is the statutory committee mandated with the accounting oversight of state corporations. It was widely reported that he excelled in this role and saved the Kenyan tax payer billions of shillings through his diligence and attention to detail. H.E also founded and successfully operated Radio Rahma while he served as Chief Executive Officer until the year 2013 when he was elected to serve as the Member of Parliament for Mvita Constituency. The governor was born and bred in Mombasa and upon completion of his primary school education in Coast Academy, he joined the prestigious Lenana School in Nairobi. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce from Inoorero University, and is currently pursuing a Masters’ degree in the same field at the Mt. Kenya University. It is his mission to build on the gains made, learn from the shortcomings of the past and partnering with the residents, in making a deliberate leap into a new beginning for Mombasa. The Governor is deeply passionate about an accountable and people centered government. This is why the theme of his manifesto is “Mombasa - A New Beginning; Voice of the People.” His promise is to work together with residents, hand in hand, to create impact in our society at the household level.
